February 20, 2017 - Eine Sonne mir im Herzen scheint [A Sun Shines in my Heart]

Hey friends!

The last couple of weeks have been really pretty great.

So last Wednesday we had district meeting, and it was really amazing.  We talked a lot about the Atonement and learned a lot. It was really cool because the Zone Leaders made the point that I found was pretty cool, that since everyone is different, we all have different ways of applying the Atonement and how we can learn through the scriptures and the examples there that we can find out how to do so. It was really powerful and i learned a lot.

Friday was pretty crazy. We had Tausch [splits], and I went to Freiberg with Sister Darton. It was a lot of fun. So we got to Freiberg, came home and had some lunch. We then klingled [tracted] a couple streets, sadly with no success, then we went back to the church for the Primary's Fasching party. We did a skit with the elders and helped with the games, then we had a dance party.

Saturday we tausched back and did weekly planning.

Sunday we had a Thema [lesson] in Sunday school. We had it all planned and ready to go and three minutes before class started, Sister Carta and I looked at each other and decided to change the Thema. We both decided we needed to talk about eternal families, which was perfect because the Trenklers are preparing to go to the temple to get sealed. It went really well.

This Wednesday we went to Crimmitschau! We had an appointment with the Trenklers and it was super. They were so cute haha they had donuts and tea all ready and cute for Valentine's Day it was so sweet and they are doing really well. But when we got to Bahnhof to go home, our train was delayed ten minutes, which usually isn't a big deal. But we had to change trains in Gößnitz, and so we asked the conductor if he knew if the train to Gera was waiting. He called them, and then told us they weren't. Haha so we called Suzi to see if she could come pick us up when we got there, but she didn't answer. We got to Gößnitz, and looked up the Gleis [track], and saw our train, so we booked it crazy fast, and barely schaffed [made] it. Heavenly Father loves us.

Thursday we had an appointment with Schwester Gollmann, and inactive member and it was really great. So cool story. Wednesday, we talked to a couple on the street in Crimmitschau, had a pretty good discussion, but they didn't seem super interested. We gave them a card and went on our way. As we were waiting for our bus to Schwester Gollmann's, we got a text from them, and they wanted us to come over soon because they wanted to learn more about the gospel and they wanted a Book of Mormon. So we are pretty excited about that.

So we take the bus to Werdau so much during the same times, that our bus driver knows us pretty well, but we hadn't really talked much to him, he just knows there's always missionaries that wanna go to Uferstraße. So last week, Sister Carta decided that we should sit up front and talk to him a bit. We ended up talking to him the entire hour about everything, he is so funny. He knew that we were missionaries and stuff and we talked about church, and he mentioned that he tried to go to some different churches, and there was always something that he didn't like or that wasn't right, but he asked us, what we believe, and we explained a bit. We got to Bahnhof [train station] and ended up talking to him for a while, and he said he'd never heard of us, and that he'd love to learn more sometime, but didn't know when. We gave him a card, so mal schauen [we'll see] how that goes. It's all good though because we see him so often, so that will be great.

So Friday we had ZTM [Zone Training Meeting] in Leipzig. It was really really good. We learned a lot about member missionary work, supporting the ward and using family history in our work. So I love family history. I think it is the most interesting thing to learn about my family and to be able to take them to the temple, and it has been such a blessing for me. One thing that was super cool that was said, that we should pray to find those people who have ancestors who are ready for the temple blessings and I have never thought about that but it is super neat how Heavenly Father works and sometimes we have to be creative to figure Him out.

Also interviews with President took an eternity, and we were waiting forever for ours, so we all just played the piano and sang hymns all evening. It was so much fun and it is the most wonderful thing how much music brings the spirit. We just had a grand old time.

I love my friends here, this ward, the work, and my Savior oh so much, and I am so very blessed to be here.

July 10, 2017 - Hannover - Last Email!

[Gabby's Dad here, I constructed the post below from emails she sent us this week.  Since they were her last emails from the field I wanted to include them.] [Speaking of the heat in Utah] Oh no I'm gonna die when I get home.  It's raining right now and it is great.   100 is too hot, help me.  Today it is about 65 and it is beautiful.  I'm in so much trouble!   It's been a good week.  I was kinda sad for a bit then I just realized all the stuff I have to get done and I don't even have time to get sad oops.  It will be good.   Church was also really great.  I gave my testimony along with Elder Pruett bc he is also getting transferred and so that was neat.  We had a really good Sunday school, and Mia was also there.  She's been reading in the Book of Mormon and loves it.  She has lots of good questions that are super deep haha so we have been working on that.  We have an appointment with her tomorrow and i am really excited.     We hav

June 26, 2017 - Hannover-Whitewashing & Hildesheim Castle

Hey friends!   So I don't have a ton of time today, so it's gonna be short, and it's been a while but it's been really wonderful here in Hannover!  We have been working hard and it's getting there.  White washing is rough sometimes, and it gets discouraging when you don't have anyone to teach, but I have really learned here that the Lord watches out for you and blesses you in ways sometimes you don't recognize until later.   We have had a lot of cool experiences and a lot of fun as well.  Since I don't have a lot of time, I just want to let you all know how much the Lord cares for you and is there for you even when you may not notice until later.  But He is there! I love you all!   Lg, Sister Hammer PS sorry for the overload of pictures this is literally the first group email I've sent this transfer... June 19, 2017 - Hannover

Oh mannnnn This is crazy!  I have gotten a trillion emails from the mission about finishing and I'm like NOPE haha naja [oh well] its okay.  It'll be cool. Hannover is getting better.  It's going well here.  Still slow which sucks sometimes but it's picking up.   We had two investigators at church yesterday and it was really cool.  One just kinda showed up and wanted to check it out.  So we sat with her and helped explain everything, and she stayed for all three hours and loved it.  Sister Koch said she was just freuing herself [rejoicing] during my talk in sacrament meeting. (I'm so bad at giving talks in church it is terrifying.)  Anyway, she was really excited during Sunday  school and relief society too.  She even stayed for the Elder's investigator's baptism and loved it.  She's coming next week too.  And the other investigator was a lady we have been trying to contact forever.  And she is friends with a member, and he said to let us know when we
